PreSonus – Studio One

Regardless of your setup, if you are a digital audio workstation (DAW) user, Studio One by PreSonus is not an option to pass up lightly. Setting a high standard of functionality and usability, this software is excellent for users from introductory levels to professionals. Coming in three different versions (Prime, Artist, and Professional), it is easy to pick the package that is right for you. Each version has varying levels of effects, instruments, and features making it ideal for users of all levels and budgets. Beyond that, this is a product available for both PC and Mac users. Sound Features

This program features instruments grouped into collections. My experience has been primarily with the Artist version. This includes instrument collections such as Impact, Mai Tai, Mojito, and Presence. All include a great assortment of instrument patches that work quite well for my needs. There’s much more though. Next to the instrument collections, one can find a collection of effects and loops that add a great variety to the sounds that you can produce here. Some of my favorites for classical arranging include the Oriental Orchestra loop collection.

Beyond the vast collections already included in Studio One, it is important to note that other sound libraries and plugins can be easily included. One of my favorites in Omnisphere. Once the data paths are established you can have all your sound plugins right at your fingertips. No switching to outside source library files required!

User-Friendly Interface

All your tools are handy and easy to find. With toolbars at the top, playback menu’s at the bottom, a collapsable browsing tab on the left it is easy to access controls quickly and effectively. For those in the audience who are a fan of keyboard shortcuts, Studio One has you guys covered too. While a little extensive to learn at first, built in keyboard shortcuts allow you to easily maneuver and manipulate your project with simple keystrokes.

Looking for something in particular and can’t find it? That’s not a problem either. Studio One comes with a very helpful users guide and the support team at PreSonus can help you take care of your problems easily and with a great attitude. There is a lot to be said for good, easily accessible support.

Thinking about it yet?

Well, you certainly should be thinking about it. Even if you have a DAW you’ve been using for years, Studio One is simply one of those products that might just be worth switching for. You can try the professional version free for 30 days. Take a look, you might just be amazed at what you can do. The brief description here doesn’t even lightly scratch the surface. For those just getting into the idea of learning a DAW, maybe this is enough. But honestly, spend some time on the PreSonus website –  https://www.presonus.com/products/Studio-One  . The advanced features and capability of this software are more than could ever be explained in a short post. One thing I can say for certain, this is a product that is worth the time to look into an explore. Happy creating and discovering!
